Multi-Planar Jump Performance in Speed Skating Athletes: Investigating Interlimb Differences in an Asymmetrical Sport
نویسندگان
چکیده
Elite speed skaters are exposed to asymmetric lower limb loading consequent the unidirectional turns inherent sport. This presents a unique model study effects of sport-specific on interlimb differences in mechanical muscle function. study, therefore, examined baseline asymmetries multi-directional jump tests elite using cross-sectional design. Thereafter, participants were monitored longitudinally bilateral countermovement (CMJ) quantify function throughout competitive season. Pre-season testing included single leg lateral (JumpLat) and forward horizontal (JumpHorz) attached robotic linear position encoder, along with CMJ dual force plate system. From baseline, monitoring was conducted 24-week Within-limb changes right vs left concentric impulse (CMJCon) eccentric deceleration (CMJEcc) assessed mixed model. No systematic found at (p = 0.33–0.98) between-test agreement dominance poor (Kappa −0.17–0.33). Furthermore, there no time observed for CMJCon (fixed effect 0.01 N*s) small decrease CMJEcc −0.35 N*s, p 0.01). These data suggest that even sport asymmetrical loading, output remain stable group level. However, occurring individual athlete level may be meaningful performance injury.

Endurance in speed skating
We analyse the development of world records speed skating from 1893 to 2000 for both men and women. The historical data show that it is likely that the relation between skating speed and distance of the various events is non-linear and converges to a limit value. We pay special attention to technical innovations in speed skating, especially, the introduction of the klapskate in the 1996/1997 se...

The purpose of this study was to examine the personality characteristics of traditional and alternative sport athletes. The participants were comprised of 70 male University Division I traditional sport athletes (e.g., tennis and volleyball), 63 male bullriders, and 50 male contemporary alternative sport athletes (moto-cross, wakeboarding, etc.). Athletes provided demographic information and re...
متن کاملInterlimb transfer of grasp orientation is asymmetrical.
One the most fundamental aspects of the human motor system is the hemispheric asymmetry seen in behavioral specialization. Hemispheric dominance can be inferred by a contralateral hand preference in grasping. Few studies have considered grasp orientation in the context of manual lateralization and none has looked at grasp orientation with natural prehension. Thirty right-handed adults performed...

The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between specific performance measures and hockey skating speed. Thirty competitive secondary school and junior hockey players were timed for skating speed. Off-ice measures included a 40-yd (36.9-m) sprint, concentric squat jump, drop jump, 1 repetition maximum leg press, flexibility, and balance ratio (wobble board test). Pearson pr...
